Rules
1. Clubs may have multiple entries but the players must be U14 (no U12s for clubs who do not have to use U12s)
2. There will be no trophies awarded - emphasis must be placed on the following skills. We want this to be competitive but not overly so
a. Hooking & Blocking
b. Speed of movement & agility
c. Catching
d. Striking on the run & accuracy
3. Matches will be 7 a-side (2 backs / 3 midfielders & 2 forwards) and will be played 7 mins straight through
4. If managers think that 7 a-side is too few then this can be increased on the day
5. A square will be outlined on the wall at both ends - if the ball strikes inside the square 3 points will be allocated
6. 1 point will be allocated for a clean catch (not from a handpass)
7. The ball will not go 'dead'. In the event of a score teams will play on. Play will only stop for fouls or full time
8. Players cannot solo with the ball. They can take their steps. tap onto the hand, take their remaining steps & release the ball
9. No deliberate kicking of the ball
10. Mentors are encouraged to ensure all players get as much game time as possible - results do not matter
TO ALL MENTORS - as the results will not matter, I would encourage everyone to use this opportunity to stand back & assess your players to see what skills you need to work on in training in the coming months.
