Saturday past seen the North Antrim U12 Airborne League Finals being ran off in the Dunloy Sports Academy. This is a competition which requires you be at your very best and tuned in for an entire match, due to the speed combined with no stoppage rules, just rebounds and constant play. Scoring for this this competition in North Antrim is 1 point for a goal, 2 points for a 'point' and 2 points for a catch (only catches from a struck pass count - hand passes or 'pop passes' do not count).
Like the U14 Airbourne a big turnout of players, parents and supporters arrived on finals day adding to the atmosphere. From the first throw in of the ball the young talented players where going in hard and fast for every ball at pace and making use of the 2 point catches and over the bar points to aid boost their team scores which was very apparent once again on the day.
North Antrim would like to thank Dunloy Sports Academy and Tir na nOg Randalstown for the availability of their facilities for this competition. Without these type of indoor halls this competition simply would not happen and itβs for this reason why we can only accept a certain number of entries.
A special thanks goes to all the clubs as they took turns in time keeping, score keeping and referring the various matches throughout the day. North Antrim would also like to thank all the teams and players who took part in the competition this year making it such a success.
