In horrendous conditions Loughgiel U16's secured their spot in the Feis final after a thrilling semi final against Ballycastle at Fr Healy Park this evening. The game started with Ballycastle hitting the net and sending a ball soaring over the bar just shortly after throw in but Loughgiel werent going to drop the heads and as Róisín McCormick hammered a penalty home the girls stuck tight and the scores started to come and chipped away at the scoresheet to leave the game level at half time with a score line of Loughgiel 2-3 Ballycastle 1-6, Róisín McCormick & Charley McCarry getting the goals and Róisín, Mary & Charley putting the ball over the bar.
As the second half started corner forward Chloe O'Mullan made way for Ciara Laverty on the field and Ciara had only graced the pitch when the ball ended up in the net of the girls from the town. The second half was a battle with scores being exchanged to leave the game level on several ocassions. The game possessed everything from both young teams, the hooks & blocks to some of the finest ever seen on the scoreboard at Fr Healy Park. Loughgiel held on and as the final whistle was blown it was the girls in red & white that would progress to the final.
Congratulations to Ronan, Carmel and the girls and the very best of luck in the final from all at Loughgiel Shamrocks GAC.
