History was made this year when Feis na nGleann took place in Con Magees Glenravel for the very first time as the club celebrates their centenary of its founding by a small group of enthusiasts. The Club, which later was named after Conn Magee of 1798 fame, has developed into one of the strongest in the County and provided an excellent state-of-the-art venue for the Feis.
As well as the usual Hurling, Football and Camogie competitions, there was also an Arts and Crafts section covering artwork, in various forms; wood, metal, glass and pottery craft; needlecraft, (knitting, sewing, crochet, embroidery) and kitchen craft, (cooking, baking, jam making).
Glenravel has had an associate with the Feis for many years. Indeed, in the 1980s when Feis Sunday clashed annually with the Ulster Hurling Final, the competing Feis finalists were compelled to compete without their Antrim County players of the day. On one such occasion, neither team would play the final. To avert disaster, Glenravel agreed to play a challenge football match on Feis Sunday and from then on football became and integral part of the Feis.

According to newspaper reports of the period, hundreds flocked to Glenariff for the very first Glens Feis and no doubt many came down from Glenravel. Siobhán Ní Luain wrote enthusiastically about the annual event in their poem, "The Feis in the Glen” and tell us that she got dressed up in "a yellow hat with a cherry bow”. Con Magee members displayed the same enthusiasm as they worked to ensure that Feis na nGleann 2016 was another success.
