A very successful evening was held by Dunloy GAA & CC in the clubrooms, Tí Cúchullain. On Easter Tuesday night Cuchullains club celebrated the culture around the centenary of the Easter Rising in 1916 with the first of their commemoration events.
The evening began with a chance to examine the Conradh na Gaeilge Exhibition - Athbheochan na Gaeilge agus Éirí Amach na Cásca (The Irish Language Revival and the Easter Rising). Seán Ó Murchadha, from Conradh na Gaeilge, spoke to the audience about the display.
This was followed by Brídín and Aodán Uí Mhaolagáin talking about Dublin & Dunloy; the P.H. Pearse Connection and her family’s personal experience in the years 1916- 22
Michael Hasson, Uachtarán Comhairle Uladh CLG (President of GAA Ulster Council), congratulated Cuchullains club on hosting their first 1916 event.
Moira Crawley-Kelly sang a selection of songs related to 1916, Thomas McGilligan recited The Rebel by Padraig Pearse. The 1916 theme was continued by Martin Higgins who provided music to finish off the night.
Brídín and Aodán were presented with Dunloy Jackets by the Club Chairman Colum Elliott as a memento of their visit
Fear an Tí on the night was Ciaran O Neill.

An educational evening exploring the history of the Easter Rising, complimented by Traditional music and song from Comhaltas Dhún Lathaigh and Guests.
