Saturday 16th July at 7.30pm in St. Patrick's Park Carey
Carey Faughs v Shane O'Neills Glenarm
As the two oldest clubs in North Antrim, Carey & Glenarm will face each other in the Centenary Cup.
As some people will know the same 2 clubs played in the first Feis na ngleann in 1904 for the Shield of the Heroes trophy, a match in which Roger Casement was an umpire.
Carey won that day & having won in subsequent years the famous trophy has resided permanently (& proudly) in Carey ever since.
The Shield wont be up for grabs on the 16th but no doubt will be on display. Carey would like to thank Glenarm for agreeing to the match & offer them a warm welcome back to St. Patricks Park for this unique match.
The match will be followed by a Players Re-union in Carey Hall and Irish Night, entertainment provided by Jake Patterson.
This invite extends to all clubs in the area for a night of 'craic' & reminiscing (rose-tainted glasses optional!) Many thanks to Owen Elliot who has agreed to referee the match.
